Rep. Tony Gonzales, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 23rd District since 2021, recently shared his thoughts and legislative efforts through a series of tweets. Born in 1980, Gonzales resides in San Antonio and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Gonzales expressed gratitude towards several agricultural organizations for their support of the STOP Screwworms Act. He acknowledged these groups in his tweet: “Thank you @FarmBureau, @TexasFarmBureau, @BeefUSA, @TSCRA, & @sellatauction for supporting the STOP Screwworms Act.”

In another tweet on the same day, he highlighted concerns about the resurgence of the New World screwworm and its potential impact on livestock industries. Rep. Gonzales emphasized the urgency to eradicate this pest by stating: “The New World screwworm is making a comeback & our livestock industry is in real danger.” He also mentioned collaborating with Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz to intensify eradication efforts.

Later that day, Rep. Gonzales discussed school safety measures following a meeting with Secretary Noem from DHS. He tweeted: “As a dad of six, I’d do anything to protect my kids.” This conversation was part of ongoing discussions about enhancing security measures across schools in America.
