Nobody in UT Permian Basin Women’s Basketball has as many rebounds as Alexus Quaadman after her 10 board performance on Tuesday at Regis.  Quaadman’s 10th rebound gave her 447 for her career, surpassing Teisha King’s 446.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead behind some hot shooting.  Morgan Helgesen and Avalon Munoz knocked down threes as the Falcons built a 10-point lead.  Holly Hemmeline got in on the action and a bucket by Diavian Spencer pushed the lead to 13.

A jumper from Munoz gave the Falcons a 15-point lead, their largest of the evening.  The Rangers found their shooting groove and trimmed the Falcon lead to just four with 1:35 to go in the half.  Ally Haman responded with a bucket and Hemmeline hit another three to send the Falcons into the half up 35-26.

After threes by Helgesen and Hemmeline the lead was back to 15 just 90 seconds into the half.  Again the Ranger offense found themselves and made it a ballgame with the Falcons up 49-43 with a quarter to go.  After the Rangers tied the game in the fourth, Andreea Mancha and Hemmeline kept the Falcons in front with threes.  The Falcon offense went cold in the final three minutes as the Rangers overtook them and hit their free throws down the stretch for the 73-63 final.

Hemmeline led all scorers with 18 points, connecting on six threes.  Munoz added a season high 13 points and five assists.  Helgesen had nine points and five steals.

The Falcons are back in the Basin for their home opener next Monday against Sul Ross State University.  Tip-off is slated for 5 PM.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
