Rep. Tony Gonzales, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 23rd District since 2021, has recently taken to social media to address several pressing issues. His statements reflect concerns over agricultural threats, national security, and fiscal responsibility.
On June 3, 2025, Gonzales highlighted the threat posed by a potential screwworm outbreak in Texas. He stated that “Texas has the most to lose from a screwworm outbreak in the U.S.” and promoted his legislative proposal, the STOP Screwworms Act, aimed at protecting livestock from this parasite.
The following day, on June 4, 2025, Gonzales expressed apprehension about international relations with China. He warned that “the Chinese Communist Party will stop at nothing to undermine our economic and national security interests,” emphasizing the urgency of the situation by stating that “every light is blinking red.”
Later on June 4, he addressed fiscal policy through a metaphorical reference to cryptocurrency. He tweeted that “The House Appropriations Committee is the original DOGE,” underscoring its role in responsibly funding government operations while eliminating wasteful spending.
Tony Gonzales was born in San Antonio in 1980 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College.
