On June 18, 2025, Rep. Tony Gonzales expressed his presence alongside Secretary Rollins in South Texas with the statement: “Great to be on the ground today with @SecRollins in South Texas. “.
Later that day, Gonzales announced new policy measures aimed at eradicating the screwworm through the establishment of an eradication facility in South Texas. He highlighted this as a key priority: “With @SecRollins today announcing new policy changes focused on eradicating the screwworm—including the opening of an eradication facility in South Texas. This facility has been one of my top priorities. From introducing the STOP Screwworms Act to leading funding efforts”.
