Three of UT Permian Basin Men's Soccer's best were honored by the Lone Star Conference Thursday night at their annual awards banquet. Gustavo Barroso was recognized for his sensational senior season and voted First Team All-Conference as well as the All-Academic Team. Alberto Romano was named to the All-Conference Third Team while Gabriel Nevarez earned a spot on the All-Freshman squad.
Barroso was second in the conference in goals, assists, and total points. The senior racked up eight goals, the most by a Falcon since 2017. He added six assists to finish with 22 points. He converted three times on penalty kicks and had a pair of game-winning goals. He earned a spot on the All-Academic Team with a 3.7 GPA.
Romano missed the first half of the season due to injury, but flourished in the second half. The junior scored four times and assisted on another. Against Eastern New Mexico he had a huge day with a pair of goals in a 4-0 victory. Navarez scored twice and assisted two other times. He scored the game-winner against Dallas Baptist in the final seconds back on September 24.
