Strong Finish Helps Women Place Second at Trinity Invite

A strong finish and terrific showing on the boards propelled UT Permian Basin Women's Swimming to a second-place finish at the Trinity Invite.  The Falcons also took home first in both diving events on the weekend.

Avery Joiner got the team's first top-three finish of the day after coming in second in the 100-freestyle.  Gabriela Gonzalez was just outside the top-three, finishing 0.2 seconds behind third.  In the 1,650-freestyle, Emma Gerhart dominated the competition and set a program record in the process.  The freshman won the event with a time of 17:55.34, 10 seconds faster than second.  A day after setting the program record in the 3-meter, Delaney Murphy took home the top spot in the 1-meter with a score of 464.05.

The Falcons are off until December 3 when they head west to face Division I foe New Mexico State.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
