Women's Indoor Track Open's Season at Bob Timmons Challenge

The Prairie View A&M women's indoor track and field teams kicked off the 2022-23 calendar year at the Bob Timmons Challenge on Saturday.  The Lady Panthers had several top finishes at Anschutz Pavilion.

On the women's side Jyzmin Gray crossed the line first for the Lady Panthers in the 60-meter hurdles. Junior Asjah Harris finished second respectively in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70, while teammate senior Darnisha Lykes clocked a 7.75 for a fifth-place finish. 

In the 600-yard run senior Antwanique Kinsler had a fourth-place finish with the time of 1:28.80, teammate Jasir Miller in her debut as a Lady Panther had a time of 1:32.49 for a sixth-place finish in the same event.  In the women's one-mile run senior Shelby Devereaux crossed the finish line for a fourth-place finish with a time of 5:42.11.

Junior twins Jade and Jada Sabir crossed the line second (58.67) and fourth (1:00.53) in the 400-meters.  In the 13th event of the day Jalen Elrod had a time of 2:25.65 in the 800-meter run for a second-place finish, while teammate Laila Diaz completed the run with a 2:49.10 time and fifth-place finish.

Lykes also had a sixth-place finish with a 26.07 time in the 200 meters.  In the final running event the Lady Panthers finished second overall in the 4x400 meter relay consisting of A-team the Sabir twins at the first and third leg, while Miller and Kinsler were the second and fourth leg for PVAMU.

In the women's field events, sophomore Savoria Anderson had a fifth-place finish in the women's triple jump at 11:54m mark.  Freshman Sanai Kintchen hit the 12.77m mark in the shot put in her first indoor action of the season.

PVAMU will return to action for a one day event January 14 for the HBCU Showcase at New York in New York, NY.
