Senior Drops Season-High 20 in Friday Night Action

Normally distributing the ball to his teammates to score, DaJuan Jones drove the bus offensively for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball on Friday.  The senior scored a season-high 20 points in the Falcons first game on the mainland in 20 days.  Keyon Craddock also had it going offensively for the Falcons at Eastern New Mexico, dropping 18 points while Azariah Seay added 15.

Neither side was able to grab the momentum early and the Falcons took the first two-possession lead just over six minutes into the contest.  The Lone Star Conference foes went back to exchanging baskets and traded the lead until Craddock got hot.  The junior connected from three on three-straight possessions and pushed the Falcons ahead by 7, 38-31.  After a pair of Rodney Carson free throws held the lead at seven, the Falcons were held scoreless over the final two-and-a-half minutes of the half and the Greyhounds made it a one-point game heading into the locker room.

The home side kept that momentum into the second half and took a four-point lead.  Threes by Jones and Seay kept the Falcons within striking distance, and they trailed by just three at the under-12 media timeout.  The Greyhounds found a little wiggle room with a 5-0 run that the Falcons would eventually chip away at.  After cutting the deficit to four, the home team scored the next six points to take a 10-point cushion.  The Falcons got back to within six, but it was too late for the comeback in the 84-75.

The Falcons went 10-for-19 from three-point range, their second most made threes on the season.  Jones, Craddock, and Seay combined to go 13-of-13 from the free throw line and made all 10 of the three-pointers.

The Falcons wrap-up the weekend at Western New Mexico on Sunday before returning home next week.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
