The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team had 10 fewer turnovers than Alabama A&M, but fell 66-55 to the Lady Bulldogs on the road Monday.

The Panthers (8-11, 5-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Kennedy Paul, who had 15 points. Gerlyn Smith added 13 points off of the bench and Diana Rosenthal helped out with 12 points and three steals.

Paul pulled down two offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Prairie View A&M, grabbing 10 boards and turning them into eight second chance points.

The Prairie View A&M defense caused its share of mistakes in Monday's game, forcing 19 Alabama A&M turnovers while committing nine. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Rosenthal's three steals led the way individually for the Panthers.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 23-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Prairie View A&M then cut the Bulldogs lead to 30-24 before going on a 5-0 run to narrow its deficit to 30-29. Alabama A&M responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Panthers trailing 31-29 heading into halftime.

Prairie View A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Panthers faced a 54-45 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Prairie View A&M played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 16 points in the paint.

Alabama A&M kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 60-49 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Paul's three, to shrink the deficit to 60-54 with 5:50 to go in the contest. Alabama A&M responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 66-55. Prairie View A&M took advantage of four Alabama A&M turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of those takeaways.
