The Prairie View A&M Panthers had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the Houston Cougars 17-4 despite the efforts of senior Zachary Trevino, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Sophomore Matthew Krall (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (2-10).
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by Trevino, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Freshman Ahmar Donatto put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-1 with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Sophomore Blake Redman came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.
The Cougars expanded their lead to 15-1 before the Panthers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the eighth. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Donatto, which brought the score to 15-4 in favor of the Cougars. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Houston added two runs to their tally on the way to a 17-4 final.
