How many students were enrolled in Alpine ISD schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 974 students enrolled in Alpine ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 62.7% of the Alpine ISD total enrollment.

Alpine ISD roughly covers schools within Brewster County with its main office in Alpine.

Among the three schools in Alpine ISD, Alpine Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 382 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
