There were three Hispanic students enrolled in San Vicente ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 50% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that San Vicente ISD schools welcomed nine students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 33.3% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the district.

San Vicente ISD roughly covers schools within Brewster County and has a main office in Big Bend National Park.

San Vicente Elementary School was the only school in the district which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming three students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
