Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 96.5% of Ft. Hancock ISD schools' student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 386 Hispanic students enrolled in Ft. Hancock ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Ft. Hancock ISD schools welcomed 400 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 96.5% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Ft. Hancock ISD roughly covers schools within Hudspeth County and has a main office in Fort Hancock.

Among the three schools in Ft. Hancock ISD schools, Benito Martinez Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 179 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
