Enrollment at Alpine ISD schools decreased by 2.1% compared to previous school year

There were 954 students enrolled in Alpine ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.3% of them were boys, and 48.7% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 60.5% of the Alpine ISD total enrollment.

Alpine ISD roughly covers schools within Brewster County with its main office in Alpine.

Among the three schools in Alpine ISD, Alpine Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 377 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
