Ft. Hancock ISD welcomed 377 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 377 students enrolled in Ft. Hancock ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.3% of them were boys, and 47.7% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 96.3% of the Ft. Hancock ISD total enrollment.

Ft. Hancock ISD roughly covers schools within Hudspeth County with its main office in Ft Hancock.

Among the three schools in Ft. Hancock ISD, Benito Martinez Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 165 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
