There were five Hispanic students enrolled in San Vicente ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 66.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that San Vicente ISD schools welcomed nine students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 55.6% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the district.

San Vicente ISD roughly covers schools within Brewster County and has a main office in Big Bend National Park.

San Vicente Elementary School was the only school in the district which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming five students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
