On November 20, 2024, Rep. Gonzales emphasized the importance of deporting migrants with criminal records as a primary measure for ensuring public safety. He stated, "Our mandate is to keep Americans safe. Deporting migrants with a criminal record is priority number ONE."

Later that day, Rep. Gonzales reported on his meeting with General C.Q. Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In his tweet, he expressed his commitment to maintaining the strength of America's armed forces: "This morning, I met with General C.Q. Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. America’s armed forces are the greatest in the world and I am committed to keeping it that way."

On November 22, 2024, Rep. Gonzales announced legislative progress regarding his bill to honor fallen Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez by renaming the Uvalde Border Patrol Checkpoint after him. He tweeted about its passage in both chambers of Congress: "Earlier this year, my bill to rename the Uvalde Border Patrol Checkpoint in honor of fallen Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez passed in the House. Last night, the Senate passed my bill and it will be signed into law in the coming days."
