Rep. Tony Gonzales, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas's 23rd District since 2021, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues through social media posts. The congressman, who resides in San Antonio and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College, expressed his opinions on border security, emergency funding allocation, and Hispanic representation within the Republican Party.
On February 11, 2025, Rep. Gonzales commended the Trump administration for its efforts in securing the U.S. border within three weeks of taking office. He urged Congress to "pass long-term solutions" and advocated for reallocating funds away from NGOs towards supporting military and Department of Homeland Security operations at the border. "In just 3 weeks, the Trump admin has proven how serious it is about securing our border."
Later that day, Rep. Gonzales criticized what he perceived as misallocation of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds amounting to $59 million. He argued that these resources could have been better utilized to assist individuals in North Carolina and California who are still in need following emergencies. "Everything about this is backwards."
On February 12, 2025, Rep. Gonzales highlighted the contributions of Hispanic voices to building a Republican majority across government branches. As Chairman for the 119th Congress's Hispanic Conference (@HispanicConf), he emphasized his commitment to preserving opportunities within America for all citizens while expressing gratitude for his leadership role."Hispanic voices helped build the Republican trifecta."
