How many students were enrolled in Pecos County schools during 2023-24 school year?

There were 2,782 students enrolled in Pecos County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.6% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Pecos County had the 122nd lowest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that Hispanic students made up 84.7% of the student body, the largest percentage in Pecos County schools, followed by white students at 12.9%, Asian students at 0.8%, Black students at 0.7%, American Indian students at 0.2%, Pacific Islander students at 0.1% and multiracial students at 0.7%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
