Rep. Tony Gonzales, who has represented Texas's 23rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, shared updates on recent engagements with French Ambassador to the United States through a series of tweets. These interactions highlight San Antonio's economic and cybersecurity initiatives, as well as historical ties between France and Texas.

On March 13, 2025, Rep. Gonzales tweeted about hosting a roundtable discussion with business leaders in San Antonio to discuss the city's diverse industries with the French Ambassador. He emphasized the importance of building upon the economic partnership between France and the United States, describing it as beneficial for both nations. "Hosted a roundtable with business leaders this morning to share more about San Antonio’s diverse industries with @FrenchAmbUS. France is our strong ally and critical partner—building upon our economic partnership is a win for both of our nations."

Later that day, Rep. Gonzales highlighted San Antonio's reputation as "Cyber City USA," attributing part of this recognition to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He thanked the French Ambassador for participating in a cybersecurity roundtable alongside university officials, law enforcement, and military leaders. This meeting underscored efforts by the U.S. to collaborate on cybersecurity issues domestically and internationally. "UTSA San Antonio is Cyber City USA and @UTSA is a major reason for that."

In another tweet from March 13, Rep. Gonzales shared an interesting historical fact: France was the first country to recognize the Republic of Texas. He expressed his enjoyment in hosting the French Ambassador at the Alamo, which he referred to as "the pride of Texas." "Fun fact: France was the first country to recognize the Republic of Texas."
