Rep. Tony Gonzales, who has represented Texas’s 23rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing the ongoing flooding crisis in Texas and reflecting on broader issues of public safety. Gonzales, a San Antonio resident born in 1980 and an Excelsior College graduate, highlighted his participation in emergency response efforts and commented on national security concerns.
On July 11, 2025, Gonzales posted about joining President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for an emergency roundtable with first responders in Kerrville, Texas. He stated: “Today, I was proud to join @POTUS and @FLOTUS for an emergency roundtable with first responders in the Hill Country. President Trump is a man of action, and his support for Texans is on full display in the wake of tragic flooding.”
Later that same day, Gonzales reflected on an incident from nearly a year prior involving President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. He wrote: “Nearly one year ago, President Trump was almost killed in Butler, PA. The rise in threats and violence toward our federal agents, public officials, and our own President goes against everything our nation stands for. I am thankful for the swift action taken by the law” (posted July 11, 2025).
On July 13, 2025, Gonzales expressed gratitude to those responding to recent floods across Texas: “The men and women who have worked tirelessly to save lives as floods hit Texas will forever be our heroes.”
Gonzales’s comments come as Texas faces significant challenges due to severe flooding events. As a congressman with roots in San Antonio and academic credentials from Excelsior College (BS), he continues to address both local crises and national issues through public statements.
