Rep. Tony Gonzales, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, posted several messages on his X (formerly Twitter) account on September 12, 2025, addressing political violence and commemorating the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

In one post dated September 12, 2025, Gonzales stated: “The radical left tried to kill President Trump twice, now they’ve killed Charlie Kirk. There is no room for political violence in America.”

Later that day, Gonzales shared his participation in a memorial event in New York City: “Yesterday on 9/11, I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues on the House Homeland Security Committee in New York City to remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day. We will NEVER forget. “ The post referenced the annual commemoration of the September 11 attacks.

Gonzales also reflected on his personal experience following the events of September 11: “9/11 shaped my early 20s. Within days of the 9/11 attacks, I was shipped off to fight back against terrorism. Yesterday was the first time I visited Ground Zero. During times like this, I’m reminded of what it means to be an American. We can never take our freedoms for granted.”

Rep. Tony Gonzales has served as a U.S. Representative since winning election in Texas’s 23rd congressional district in 2020 and has since been re-elected multiple times. In recent elections, he defeated Santos Limon in 2024 with over sixty percent of the vote, John Lira in 2022 with nearly fifty-six percent support, and Gina Ortiz Jones in 2020 by a narrow margin.
