Rep. Tony Gonzales, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, addressed several key issues in recent posts on his official X account, focusing on public health threats, international affairs, and support for Hispanic-serving institutions.

On October 7, 2025, Gonzales warned of the economic dangers posed by a livestock pest outbreak: “A screwworm outbreak would have a severe impact on Texas’ economy. Containment & eradication efforts continue to be a TOP priority for myself, my colleagues in Congress, & the @USDA. “ (October 7, 2025).

Later that day, he marked the anniversary of an attack in Israel and called for action regarding hostages: “Today marks two years since the brutal attack on Israel by Hamas. As Co-Chair of the Latino-Jewish Caucus (LJC), I remain committed to demanding the immediate release of the 48 remaining hostages. I joined my fellow LJC Co-Chairs in emphasizing our unwavering, bipartisan” (October 7, 2025).

On October 8, Gonzales highlighted his role supporting higher education for Hispanic communities: “NEW: As Republican @HispanicConf Chairman, I am committed to protecting key grants for universities that service Hispanic communities. Texas is number 2 in the nation for Hispanic-Serving Institutions, which produce top-tier research & economic output for our great Lone Star” (October 8, 2025).

Gonzales has held his congressional seat through three consecutive election cycles—defeating Gina Ortiz Jones in 2020 with just over half the vote; John Lira in 2022 with nearly fifty-six percent; and Santos Limon in 2024 with more than sixty-two percent.
