Rep. Tony Gonzales, a U.S. Congressman who has won several recent elections in Texas, used his social media platform on October 4, 2025, to highlight legislative efforts addressing the fentanyl crisis and agricultural challenges facing farmers and ranchers.

In a post marking Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month, Gonzales stated: “October is Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month & a harrowing reminder that far too many families have been broken apart by the fentanyl crisis. In Congress, I’ve worked to advance legislation & funding to stop the flow of this deadly drug onto our streets. We must continue to https://t.co/9vcn3RD4CI” (posted October 4, 2025).

Later that day, Gonzales addressed issues affecting the agricultural sector. He wrote: “In Congress, I’m fighting for our farmers and ranchers. I’ve convened a task force to combat the screwworm, helped secure $750M for an eradication facility in Texas, included $10M+ for screwworm research in our ag budget, and led the charge to fast-track approvals for new drugs” (posted October 4, 2025). The post was accompanied by another tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/SWI0rHuggF” (posted October 4, 2025).

Gonzales has represented his district through multiple election cycles. In 2024 he defeated Santos Limon with over sixty percent of the vote; previous victories include wins against John Lira in 2022 and Gina Ortiz Jones in 2020.
