Rep. Tony Gonzales, representing Texas’s 23rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2021, provided updates on his recent initiatives and activities through a series of tweets on May 1, 2025.
On the afternoon of May 1, Rep. Gonzales emphasized the importance of staffing at the border, discussing a budget plan he is involved with through Homeland GOP, aimed at hiring 3,000 new Border Patrol Agents and 5,000 new CBP Officers.
Later that evening, Rep. Gonzales recounted his meeting with Texans from Karnes and Medina Electric Cooperative in Washington, D.C. The meeting was part of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Annual Legislative Conference. He highlighted the importance of reliable rural broadband and energy infrastructure.
In a tweet posted at night, Rep. Gonzales marked May as Military Appreciation Month with an event in San Antonio. For Navy Day at the Alamo, he recognized two members of the Sailor and Marine Funeral Honor Guard for their service in commemorating a Texas 23rd District Navy Officer.
