Rep. Tony Gonzales, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 23rd district, highlighted key milestones and initiatives in a series of posts on his social media account in October 2025. The posts covered the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday and federal funding for public safety in El Paso.

On October 13, Gonzales reflected on his military service and the Navy’s anniversary: “Today we celebrate @USNavy’s 250th birthday.

I enlisted at 18 years old, without a high school diploma (or even knowing how to swim). 20 years later, I retired at the highest enlisted rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.

The U.S. Navy played a pivotal role in my life, & I https://t.co/SuoB4xfOIv“.

The following day, Gonzales announced new federal support for local law enforcement. On October 14, he posted: “Great news for the City of El Paso! An incredible $2.25 M will be delivered through the federal COPS grant to hire 18 additional police officers.

Pleased to support this project through my role on the House Appropriations Committee. I will always back the blue. #TX23 https://t.co/RoafsoOXyp“.

Later that same day, he reiterated his commitment to public safety and referenced El Paso’s ranking among safe cities: “#ICYMI: Thanks to our dedicated law enforcement, El Paso consistently ranks among the safest cities in the nation.

I helped secure a $2.25 million grant for the City of El Paso to hire 18 new police officers, ensuring continued positive public safety outcomes.
