Public hearing on proposed Pecos County tax rates draws no speakers

The public hearing on proposed tax rates for Pecos County and the Midland College Williams Regional Technical Training Center (WRTTC) maintenance tax had no presenters on Aug. 17 at the regular session of the Pecos County Commissioners Court.

A video of the public hearing showed no one made a presentation before the Pecos County Commissioners Court. The proposed 2020 tax rate is to be set on Aug. 24, according to the Commissioner’s Court Regular Session Agenda.

A “Notice of Public Hearing On Tax Increase” said the proposed Pecos County tax rate is 0.7074 per $100. The proposed Pecos County tax rate is a decrease from the 2019 tax rate of 0.7090..” 

Regarding maintenance tax for Midland College WRTTC, the proposed tax rate is set for 0.0234 per $100.
