The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Mindfulness Club donated over 200 towels and blankets and a ton of newspaper to Law N' Paws.
Law N' Paws is a unique rescue group that was established in 2017 by El Paso Police Detective, Vanessa Acosta. They have rescued over 400 victims of animal cruelty and neglect. Law N' Paws evolved when Detective Acosta began investigating animal cruelty and neglect cases. After the first rescue pup, Raven was successfully rehabilitated and placed in a safe forever home, Law N' Paws was born. Law N' Paws continues to provide much-needed medical care after being made aware of animal abuse, cruelty, and neglect cases.
The EPCC Mindfulness Club is an EPCC student organization that explores the applications of mindfulness in various fields such as education, the health/medical field, and the legal field. Their intention is to positively impact their own lives and the lives of those in their community through the practice of mindfulness. EPCC Mindfulness Club members collected the items from donations given by students, faculty, and staff from within the college, and given the success of this blanket drive, they are planning a city-wide blanket & supplies drive this coming April to help Law N' Paws.
Many faculty, students, and staff throughout the college came through to make this donation possible. The EPCC Mindfulness Club would like to thank Ms. Caryl Barquin, Professor Robert Ferrell, Yvonne Ferrell, Maria Perez Piza, Sandra Ornelas, Adriana Flores, Barbara Williams, our librarians who donated their time and newspapers Priscilla Basurto, Isabel Chavira, Monica Rodriguez, Lorely Ambriz, Carlos Humphreys, Gale Sanchez, and of course our club President Sebastian Ceballos.
