Midland College Military Resource Center hosts Veterans Day Celebration

The Midland College (MC) Military Resource Center invites the public to a special celebration on Friday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Beal Plaza in the courtyard area between the Pevehouse Administration Building and the Scharbauer Student Center on the MC main campus, 3600 N. Garfield Street.  MC students and employees who are military veterans will participate in the event.  The celebration will also include recognition of those who served in the armed services, parade of colors by the Midland High School ROTC and a musical presentation by children of the Midland College Helen Greathouse Children’s Center as they sing military branch songs.

The keynote speaker for the event is John Stovall, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who was deployed to Iraq during the initial invasion in 2003.  After tours in Iraq, he served as a marksmanship instructor on Edson Range at Camp Pendleton, CA.  He currently works in the energy industry as a safety director at Emory Industrial Services.

“Our veteran students and employees are proud of their military service, and they want to honor fellow veterans in the community,” Jeremy Martinez, director of the MC Military Resource Center, explained.  “We hope that all military veterans, their families and others who want to thank our service men and women for their contributions to our country will join us for the celebration.”
